Fracking so unpopular that government considers cash payments

news release

Responding to Theresa May’s announcement that households could be offered fracking payments, Tony Bosworth, Friends of the Earth campaigner, said:

“Communities across the UK have made it clear that they don’t want fracking.

“A YouGov survey for the Sunday Times last year showed that, even where communities were offered £1million, they still remained opposed to fracking taking place near them.

“Local people won’t suddenly be bribed into accepting this unpopular practice, which poses risks to people and the environment.”
