Big Ask Action in Eccles
| When? | Saturday 15th September 2007 |
| Where? | Eccles town centre |
| Why? | To encourage people to write to local MP, Ian Stewart, to ask him to support a strong climate bill. |
On Saturday 15th September, campaigners from Manchester Friends of the Earth tracked down a forlorn penguin, who had migrated to Eccles in search of a new home.

The people of Eccles, including Cruella de Vil and Councillor Alan Broughton, came to her rescue though, signing almost 200 postcards to their local MPs in support of a strong Climate Change Bill.

The Bill will be debated in Parliament later this year, and we are asking for three key amendments to ensure that the UK does its fair share to avoid dangerous climate change - the Bill must:
set a long-term emission reduction target in line with
the latest science of at least
80 per cent by 2050;
count emissions
from all sources, including international aviation and shipping;
include annual targets so politicians can't blame previous
Governments for missed targets.
