Current volunteering opportunities
Manchester Friends of the Earth is fuelled by volunteer energy. This page lists just a few tasks we currently have on our collective to do list.
Perhaps you’d be interested in helping with one of these? If you do, please just get in touch!
Actions for April/ May
Like to join our communications team?
We are looking for people to join our comms team – where you will have the opportunity to help keep our website up to date, produce our regular digest email or help with our social media.
Our next meeting will be Monday 6th June 7pm online and in person. If you would like to get involved before then please get in touch! firstname.lastname@example.org
Contacting your MP
As a group we often write to and talk to our MPs about environmental issues we are concerned about. With almost 30 MPs in Greater Manchester we are keen to cover as many constituency areas as possible. Can you help out? We are particularly keen to hear from people who live in Bolton West, Bury North, Cheadle, Heywood/ Middleton and Leigh, and Altrincham/ Sale West. But all welcome!
About every 1-2 months we would ask you to email your MP regarding a particular campaign ask. We would provide the letter template and background information. If you were really keen and had time we might also ask you to arrange to meet with your MP. Again we could provide training and support with this if you would like it.
If you would like to know more or add your name to the list, please get in touch. office[at]manchesterfoe.org.uk
Barclays Annual General Meeting
Barclays are holding their AGM in Manchester this year and we will be joining other activists from across the country to encourage their shareholders to divest from fossil fuels.
Date – Wednesday 4th May 2022, central Manchester.
There are also two prop making sessions – 25th and 29th April. See our calendar for more details or email email@example.com
We are currently looking for a new treasurer.
Tasks include monitoring income and expenditure, reimbursing expenses, producing a bi-monthly report at the group planning meeting and an annual report for the AGM.
You need to be able to give the equivalent of a day each month, and you would be working with and supported by the group’s experienced officers. In return you’ll get the chance to hone your business and finance skills and add to your experience for CV or personal development, but even more, a great campaign group needs great support and this role offers a chance to make a really important contribution.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details or to forward your CV outlining your experience and skills.
