Manchester Friends of the Earth are inviting people to join us on Foto Friday and send in a selfie of themselves and their bicycle for the #FramedMcr photo competition  [1]

The #FramedMcr photo competition asks people to take a selfie on a bike showing what makes cycling special for them. People can be creative, have fun, and don’t have to limit themselves to their day-to-day cycling journeys.

Photos can be tweeted using the hashtag #FramedMcr anytime throughout June. The competition has some great prizes and is open to people who live or work in Greater Manchester.

Graeme Sherriff, from Manchester Friends of the Earth’s Love Your Bike campaign said:

“FramedMcr is a fun way to encourage people to give cycling a go. Cycle in the park, to your local shops, a few miles to work, whatever suits you. We advocate cycling because we believe it is good for you, your local community and the environment. Send us a cycling selfie and show us what makes cycling special to you”.

People are also invited to join in a Bike Friday ride on Friday 26th June.  Whether you’re new to cycling, returning to your bike after a break, or cycle every day, join us on Bike Friday and earn your free coffee and cake at the end of the ride. [2]

Bike Friday provides a range of cycle rides into the City Centre from various locations into Manchester from various starting places around Greater Manchester and also works with companies and local authorities in Greater Manchester to promote cycling, improve cycle facilities and to encourage more people to continue cycling to school, work and for leisure all year round.

#FramedMcr and Bike Friday are organised as part of BikeMonthMcr 2015 which is encouraging people to ‘Bike Your Way for 30 Days’ and sees Greater Manchester celebrating all things cycling with 30 days of fantastic and fun bicycle activities across the region. [3]

Supported by Manchester City Council, BikeMonthMcr aims: to encourage people to give cycling a go, cycle more or try something new and fun on a bicycle throughout June.
