Discovery Ride (Walkden) 14:30-15:30

We are organising local discovery rides in the North West area of Manchester to encourage people to have a go at cycling.

On Sunday 21 June (Fathers Day) Join the ‘Rotary Ride 2015 for Prostate Cancer’ sponsored rides within Parr Fold Park. TFGM and Nationwide Cycling Academy http://ncagb.co.uk/ will be supporting the days activities

The Discovery Rides are completely free – you don’t have to be involved with the charity rides. They take about an hour and experienced ride leaders will make sure that the pace is comfortable and that everyone has a good time. These rides are a great way to gain a little confidence and explore the local area and meet other local people having a go at cycling. We will be going off-road along the National Cycle Route 55 adjacent to the park, towards Worsley or Little Hulton.

The rides, which are timed to compliment the charity rides, will be 10:30-11:30, 12:30-13:30 and 14:30-15:30 – but please arrive 15 minutes before, so we can check your bike is OK or get you fitted for our bikes and helmets.

Some of the benefits of coming on one of our Discovery Rides are:

  • Have fun discovering local routes
  • Guidance and support from experienced instructors
  • Comfortable pace and distance
  • Gentle exercise in the fresh air
  • Ideal for family and partners
  • Confidence building
  • Meet other local people on their bikes
  • Bikes and helmets available (booking required)

Although the rides are mainly aimed at adults, young people aged under 16 may come along if accompanied by an adult. You need to be able to ride a bike to join the ride but do not need to be a particularly confident and experienced cyclist. All adults should register, and one person from each party should add the details of any children that will be coming along, to their booking. If you don’t have a bike, let us know and we can arrange to bring one for you plus a helmet (shared use). People can book on the day but numbers are limited.

If you are interested in the rides but are not yet able to ride a bike then you could attend one of our free Learn to Ride sessions (courses advertised on this site).

Please note helmets must be worn on these rides.
