Basic bicycle maintenance [Whitefield]
Our Cycle Maintenance starter course will give you the knowledge to check your bike is safe to ride and enable you to cope if you have a problem whilst out and about. It is best to bring your own bike but let us know if you need one providing. The course lasts around two hours and our qualified instructor might cover;
- What the parts of your bike are – and what they do
- Things you should check before each ride
- Simple adjustments – e.g.brakes and gears to make sure they work smoothly and safely
- What tools you might need and how to use them
- How to mend punctures
- Cleaning and lubrication
Please note these courses are only open to adults (16+).

Directions to the Urban Cycle Centre at The Barn
The entrance to Phillips Park is at the end of Park Lane in Whitefield
The lane through the park, goes over the M60.
Bear right at a fork in the lane – continue past the childrens play area to the Urban Cycle Centre.
