Chorlton Velo: Saturday BAT Runs (Beginners)
This is not a beginners club and all club members have road bikes, ie it’s a race bike and lyrca kind of club.
How to join: We ask all potential new riders to come to a Saturday morning BAT ride before joining the club and the main club rides on Sunday and Wednesday. The BAT sets off from outside the Café Sansou in West Didsbury on Barlow Moor road at 9am. Please email this address to (firstname.lastname@example.org) to let us know you are coming. It is occasionally cancelled if the weather is very bad. These rides are normally around 2-3 hours and average around 14/5 mph over moderate terrain.
If this goes well, you should then discuss joining the club and taking part in the main club rides with the ride leader (normally Alastair, Andy, Paul, Richard, Nathan or Martin). If you do decide to join, this can be done through this site (buy membership button). We ask that once you have been out twice with us, that you then join the club, even if you only want to come occasionally.
Other stuff: The club strives to be both friendly and informal, although has had to become a little more structured as it has grown rapidly over the last couple of years. We take road safety seriously and split the ride into smaller groups when it gets too large (normally 12 maximum). If you are riding with the club, you must ride safely at all times, respecting other road users and following the highway code.
