Climate change, refugees & migration

Human-caused climate change poses a serious threat to the human race and our natural environment. One consequence of climate change is it changes where people are able to live and work, because of food and water shortages and ‘resource wars’. It is likely that it will force people to migrate away from their homes to find security, and that this process has already begun.

In the context of a climate change denying President of the US, who also wants to build a wall to keep migrants out, we ask how ordinary people can campaign for an economic and political system that respects people’s rights to migrate when they want to, while creating an economy that reduces carbon emissions.

Speakers:

– Asad Rehman – Senior Campaigner for Friends of the Earth and lead on the politics of climate migration.

– Martin Empson – campaigner in the Campaign Against Climate Change, and author of Land and Labour and co-author of One Million Climate Jobs.
