Climate Control and Open Labs After Hours (Climate Control)
Science Lates: After Hours at Manchester Museum. Climate change is happening all around us, but this isn’t the time to ignore it, it’s the time to get really, really, creative.
Join scientists and artists for an evening of interactive games where you can take control and make decisions exploring a zero carbon future. Act as an advisor responding to a fictional flooding crisis to help devise ‘Downpour’ an innovative street game. Remake Manchester with modelling bricks in ‘Brick the City’ with climate change experts. Play ‘Walk of Life’ which looks at water sustainability and how your collective choices make an impact.
During the gaming sessions a performance by Contact Young Company (CYC) with Zena Edwards and Elmi Ali called Climate of Fear will be showing from 6.30-7pm. This is a series of monologues expressing empathy, apathy and anger about the political, social, economic injustices of climate change and environmental issues.
Also on the night, following on from Open Labs: Behind the Scenes of Manchester at the University of Manchester, meet researchers in the Wonderdrug Roadshow and from Cancer Research UK.
The programme is being developed in partnership with the Tyndall Centre and Global Development Institute at the University of Manchester, and Manchester Climate Agency.
