Four Nations Education for Sustainability Conference

Book now Via Eventbrite

There has never been a more pressing time to push educational programs about Climate Change and Sustainability as we witness the growing intergenerational impact of Climate Change. What are our children learning about Climate Change? How can they influence adults to make a difference? Why have we got different policies in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales? What is happening now in English schools and with parents? With Brexit and the removal of Sustainability from the Curriculum, what can people from all generations and backgrounds do?

The four nations of the UK have different policies in relation to Education for Sustainability. This conference aims to:
• Map a coherent over-view of the four nations policies and practice
• Ask what progress in EfS looks like and consider how best to make ‘progress’ happen
• Determine how to influence policy

Contributors include:
• From Wales: Dr Jane Davidson, Pro-Vice Chancellor at The University of Wales, Trinity St David, and director of The Institute of Sustainable Practice, Innovation and Resource Effectiveness (INSPIRE). As a Welsh Minister she was instrumental in delivering Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) into the Welsh curriculum.
• From England: Ann Finlayson is the Executive Chair of SEEd, She was Head of Education/Social Change at WWF-UK and the Commissioner for Education and Capability Building for the Sustainable Development Commission (2005-2010).
• From Northern Ireland: Caoimhe Archibald, former Minister for Agriculture and supporter of NI Eco Schools programme.
