From Balcombe to Lancashire: Anti-Fracking Skillshare
This summer, thousands of people mobilised against the fracking industry in Balcombe, Sussex. The community resistance drew people from all over the country who camped out, met new people, attended demonstrations, blockaded trucks and occupied industry headquarters. This skillshare and meeting is for all those who were inspired by events in Balcombe and the Reclaim the Power camp – to reflect and organise for the future, with a particular focus on supporting community resistance to the industry’s fracking plans for the North of England.

Session 1: The Story So Far
– Resistance around the world (Australia, Canada, Poland, Argentina and more)
– The Road to Balcombe (resistance to fracking in the UK)
– Lessons that can learned from Balcombe
Session 2: The Frack Industry’s Plans In The North West
IGas plans in Salford, Cuadrilla’s plans in Lancashire and other threats to the North West from Dart, Aurora and Underground Coal Gasification.
Session 3: Supporting Community Resistance
With speakers from Residents Action on Fylde Fracking (RAFF) and No Dash for Gas
The event will be wheelchair accessible.
