Greater Manchester day at Preston New Road

Come and show your solidarity with the movement against fracking in Lancashire. Frack Free Greater Manchester will be supporting the three month long United Resistance by hosting a day of demonstration at Preston New Road.

We will be celebrating another year without fracking in Lancashire as well as protesting Cuadrilla’s attempts to start fracking at Preston New Road. There will be a march to the site and demonstration followed by an open mic for people to bring any anti-fracking (or other!) performances.

So please come wearing yellow, bring banners, poems and songs. We look forward to seeing you there.

There will be a coach to and from Preston New Road on the day.

The coach will depart at 09:00 from Chorlton Street, Central Manchester M1 3JF.   The coach will then leave Preston New Road at 15:30 return to Chorlton Street.

Book your coach tickets via Eventbrite.

While there is sometimes food available at the site it is probably a good idea to bring a packed lunch. There is a protest base at Maple farm with seating, shelter and toilets.

For more information on the 3 month of United Resistance events see the Facebook page.

Fracking was banned by the local council in Lancashire after local people campaigned and won for their environment. The ban was later overturned by the Secretary of State Sajid Javid. Since then the local community has undertaken a further amazing campaign to resist fracking inluding daily roadside protests for well over a year. As people of Manchester we want to stand by our Lancastrian neighbours. Fracking anywhere puts the environment at risk for all of us.
