Irlam, Warrington (Chorlton Wanderers)

If you are looking to join other cyclists for a gentle Sunday ride, perhaps you should give Chorlton wanderers a try. We are an informal group rather than an organised club.

We meet once a month for a ride around the lanes of south Manchester/Cheshire of up to 35 miles, taking in a pub lunch, enjoying the scenery and general chat. If you’ve not ridden for a while or are looking for a relaxed way to find new routes and friends, then the Wanderers are for you. We meet on the second Sunday of the month in Chorlton Water Park car park, off Maitland Road, at 10am, returning at around 4pm.

You don’t need any paperwork or formality. You just need to turn up with a road worthy bike, a puncture repair kit and (given the Manchester weather) a water proof. Children over 15 are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Given the mileage, younger children can join if on trailer bikes or baby seats.

So if you are looking for an enjoyable day out, come and join us on our Wanderings. See website for more details.

Meet Sunday 10am, starting from Chorlton Water Park (Maitland Road entrance, off Barlow Moor Road). Rides in the winter are shorter at around 20-30 miles, and in the summer longer at up to 55 miles. Speed is gentle, around 10-12 mph.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is listed in our cycling events calendar for Greater Manchester. It is not organised by Manchester Friends of the Earth nor the Love Your Bike campaign and does not necessarily reflect their policies. We recommend checking with the organisers in case of a change of time or location.
