Ride Leader Training [Whitefield]

TfGM are offering people across Greater Manchester the opportunity to undertake FREE ride leader training.

This course may be of interest to people (aged 16+) involved with youth or community groups, cycle champions at workplaces looking to encourage colleagues to cycle to work, or club riders wishing to gain insight into leading rides. The course will equip people with the required skills to lead/supervise cycle rides. You need to be a competent cyclist to take part.

Subjects covered include:

  • Route planning
  • Risk assessments
  • Bicycle checks & helmet fitting
  • Role of a ride leader
  • Riding techniques
  • Dealing with incidents

Please note that this course is a mixture of theory and practical. You will need a bike (although one may be provided for you on request) and suitable clothes for riding.

Tea and coffee will be provided – You are welcome to bring a packed lunch.

Once booked, if you are subsequently unable attend the course you must cancel your booking and/or inform TfGM as soon as possible

The entrance to Phillips Park is at the end of Park Lane in Whitefield
The lane through the park, goes over the M60
Bear right at a fork in the lane – continue past the children’s play area to the Urban Cycle Centre
