Salford – A Glimpse of a Bygone Industrial Era – 21 Miler (Sky Ride Local)
If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
You may be lucky enough to spot Wild Orchids and Primulas on this 21 mile ride. The trail meanders along the once bustling East Lancashire Railway line and the Irwell Sculpture Trail before joining the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal. Home to Kingfishers, Herons and Swans, Moses Gate Country Park provides a welcome stop before cycling on to Blackleach Country Park. Blackleach is a fine example of how vision can transform an industrial wasteland into an area of natural beauty. The trail can get muddy in places so wider tyres are a sensible choice on this ride.
