Stockport Cycle Users Group: Sub Group meeting

Stockport Council’s Cycle Users Group (CUG) meets once a month in the Town Hall and provides an opportunity for members of the public, Council officers and Councillors to discuss aspects of cycling in Stockport.

General meetings (CUG) have a wide-ranging cycle related agenda; alternate month Sub-Group meetings focus on cycle input in highway scheme designs.

The meeting is held in Room 6 in Stockport Town Hall.

Agenda items for 7th December meeting

1) Stockport Rights of Way Improvement Plan (RoWIP) and forthcoming Walking and Cycling strategy
Simply a reminder that:

A public consultation on Stockport’s RoWIP will remain open until Jan 8th (see ‘Have Your Say’ pages on the Council website)

A programme for consulting on the Walking and Cycling Strategy is being developed: CUG members and other interested parties will be further advised on this asap

2) Council website pages relevant to cycling
The Council’s Transport Strategy team is currently reviewing those pages of the website which are relevant to its work. As part of this process, the cycling pages as they are at the moment will be viewed at the meeting, and comment taken

3) A6MARR complementary and mitigation measures – Hazel Grove (follow-up from October meeting)

The A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road (A6MARR) is expected to reduce traffic flow and congestion on some local roads in the surrounding areas, including through Hazel Grove. These reductions in traffic provide an opportunity to introduce Complementary Measures to encourage walking and cycling and support district and local centres.

Stockport Council is consulting with affected parties on the draft package of complementary measures that have been developed for Hazel Grove. As part of the consultation the proposals will be presented for discussion at this CUG sub-group. The proposals are available to view online at www.semmms.info/semmms/traffic-mitigation-complementary-measures

For questions about the proposals and/or to provide comments please contact semmms.relief.road@stockport.gov.uk or phone on 0161 474 2299, however, you are encouraged to make comments at the meeting when the proposals will be discussed

Should you wish to make it clear that you are responding as a member of Stockport’s public CUG, please either note that in your response to semmms.relief.road@stockport.gov.uk or cycling@stockport.gov.uk

4) Mobike in Stockport: preferred Town Centre locations
Subsequent to our October meeting, the Council and Mobike have undertaken further identifying of ‘preferred Mobike locations’ within the Town Centre. With many partners involved with this process, CUG views on these latest proposals will be useful.

5) A review of 2017
The group will have the opportunity to summarise views on new cycling infrastructure as it has ‘appeared on the ground’ across Stockport during the past 12 months

For further information please contact cycling@stockport.gov.uk ; also get in touch if you cannot make the meeting, but are interested in contributing to any these agenda items.
