Stockport Cycle User Group (CUG) sub – group
See below for agenda for the Cycle User sub-group meeting
Contraflow cycling on Bridgefield Street: This is now the first place in Stockport where there is a signed on-street contraflow cycling facility that does not include a cycle lane. Comment on the arrangement is invited, including experience of using it.
Layout for a ‘cycle gate’ The Council’s Highway Design and Transport Strategy teams are working together to produce a design that may be used in the future at locations where a road is closed to motor vehicles, but ‘permeable’ for cycles. Several such locations already exist, but an attempt is being made to standardise elements of the design.
Experience of using Flexipave; layout of parallel crossing: Several traffic-free links in Stockport have now been constructed using this relatively new concept that incorporates recycled material. Most prominent of these, is a section of the Cycle City Ambition Grant (CCAG2) route between Demmings Road and the Warwick Close / Bowmont Close path. Stockport’s first parallel (zebra and cycle) crossing is also under construction on Demmings Road. The Council would welcome views relating to both of these innovative measures.
Cycling information on the Council website: To further review and take suggestions relating to what is currently available
Roscoe’s roundabout: The Council has acquired funding to make improvements at the roundabout, at the Cheadle High Street / Manchester Road junction, and within Abney Hall Park. Some initial key considerations of these proposals will be discussed by the group
