Sustainable Transport: Manchester: A Cycling City? (Green Drinks Mcr)

Guest Speaker: Nick Brelsford, Sustrans NW:  We will hear about the successes and barriers for sustainable transport in Manchester and we will discuss what can be done as a city to reduce our car use and what the benefits will be.

Green Drinks Mcr - Manchester a Cycling City

Sustrans are a charity that works with families, communities, policy-makers and partner organisations right across the UK to make it easier for people to walk and cycle

In Greater Manchester, there are 84 miles of traffic free paths and GM have set the wheels in motion (pun intended) for 10% of all journeys to be by bike by 2025.Two-fifths of people (38%) surveyed thought Greater Manchester is a good place to ride a bike overall, but nearly 8 out of 10 people said cycle safety needs to be better. We will also have our new ‘soapbox’ section, where anyone can get up and tell us about what they are doing in the Green community or share ideas/thoughts. If you want to participate in the soapbox, please email greendrinksmanchester@gmail.com so we can allocate you time.

We will be at the Old Monkey from 6.15 pm, the ~15 min talk will start about 6.30 pm, and we will be there until 8-9 pm. You can pop in whenever you want; a quick drink on the way home or for the entire event! Come say hi!

Free event: Please register via Eventbrite.

What is Green Drinks?

Green Drinks is open everyone who has any interest in sustainability (academia, business, community, local government, student or member of the public). We want to create a supportive and positive place to chat with like-minded individuals, collaborate, and share advice that can help make our city, its businesses and its communities, become something that we can all be proud. Welcome.
