Vigil and Ghost Bike installation in memory of Olivia Wojciechowska

Olivia Wojciechowska was just 18 years old when she was crushed by a left-turning articulated truck as she was cycling along Eccles Old Road on 1 September 2017. She died of her injuries the following day.

A vigil will be held on Friday 17th November and a ghost bike will be installed in her memory.

People are invited to assemble at the corner of Eccles Old Road and Lancaster Road at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start.

People coming from central Manchester are welcome to join a feeder ride to the vigil. Please assemble at the Central Library from 6:00 for a prompt 6:15 departure.

We expect the event to conclude by 8:00pm.

We welcome everyone – whether cyclist, pedestrian, motorist or a multimodal traveller – to join us at the vigil to remember Olivia Wojciechowska and make a stand for investment in safer roads, safer junctions and safer trucks.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is listed in our cycling events calendar for Greater Manchester. It is not organised by Manchester Friends of the Earth nor the Love Your Bike campaign and does not necessarily reflect their policies. We recommend checking with the organisers in case of a change of time or location.
