Women’s Peace Crusade Bike Tour

The Women’s Peace Crusade spread like wild-fire throughout the country in the years 1916-1918, but has been largely ignored in the history books. On this guided cycle tour we’ll visit places associated with the 1916-1918 Women’s Peace Crusade, and tell the story of how thousand’s of women in the North West campaigned for a negotiated peace. After the ride there’s an opportunity to view a 20-minute film about the Crusade at The Pankhurst Centre (film showing 2pm).

The ride starts at Manchester Central Library and fnishes at The Pankhurst Centre, 62 Nelson Street, M13. We’ll cycle about 8 miles in total on city roads at a leisurely pace with frequent stops. If you’re staying for the film at the end of the tour make sure you bring a lock to secure your bike. You might also like to bring a sandwich lunch. Tea and coffee will be available at the Pankhurst Centre.

The tour is organised by Manchester Bike Tours. Please bring a roadworthy bike, or you can hire one for the ride from Manchester Bike Hire.
