Wythenshawe Park (Cycling in the Heatons)

On this easier trip we’ll visit both the Horticultural centre and the Cycling centre that has, for one £2 payment a whole raft of bike and trike types to try. We’ll check on how the repairs are coming on after the fire at the hall and the cafe will be open.  The route is largely off road on good paths via Didsbury and Northenden.

Friday 18th August. Meet  at 10:15 :  Heaton Moor Library Car Park

Distance: 12 miles flat. Finish time: around 4pm

SLH  has organised several bike rides in each of the last few years, all starting within the Heatons and around 4 to 15 miles long. Whether you’re fairly new to cycling, coming back after a break or more experienced but wanting to discover more routes, these rides could be for you. We go at the pace of the slowest, so no-one is left behind.

Our rides are open to all and the SLH team particularly welcome those who want to get back on their bikes after a break or who are new to cycling, as well as families with children. They will be led by experienced cycle leaders who will make sure that no-one is left behind. By request, a couple of the rides this year are longer and more challenging. See Cycling in the Heatons.

And don’t forget that on the Last Friday of each month, there are morning rides into Manchester leaving Heaton Chapel train station at 8:05 am. These Bike Friday rides are organised by FoE rather than SLH.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is listed in our cycling events calendar for Greater Manchester. It is not organised by Manchester Friends of the Earth nor the Love Your Bike campaign and does not necessarily reflect their policies. We recommend checking with the organisers in case of a change of time or location.
