Manchester - A Home of Real Food?
| When? | Saturday 4th September, 2pm - 4pm |
| Where? | People's History Museum, Bridge Street |
| Why? | To celebrate the launch of the real food guide website (www.realfoodguide.org.uk). |
As part of the People's History Museum's From Butties to Bhajis exhibition, we ran an event to promote our real food guide website and to raise awareness about the connections between food and the environment.

Our competitions went down well, with people struggling to guess the origin of various fruits and vegetables (see above). The chocolate and honey tasting was particularly popular for some reason. Winners Sarah and Jadie demonstrated their hidden talents by recognising the fair trade and organic credentials of ten different types of chocolate - without seeing the wrappers!
The online Real Food Guide was close at hand, and visitors made good use of it to find out more about what real food is and why its better for your health, the environment and local communities, as well as locating real food shops near where they live.
The From Butties to Bhajis exhibition at the People's History Museum on Bridge Street (map) runs until 5th December, and offers visitors the chance to learn about food from the past and how what we eat has changed.
Special thanks to Chorlton Wholefoods on Beech Road in Chorlton (map) for donating the delicious locally-produced honey we used in our taste test.
