Global Tax Justice activists tour comes to Manchester

If you’ve seen the headlines, you’ll know that eight people now own the same wealth as half the world’s population (that’s 3.6 billion people!), and yet one in nine people still go to bed hungry.

A network of tax havens fuels this inequality – with poor countries losing at least $170bn each year because tax payments they are owed by companies and wealthy individuals are hidden in tax havens.

Global Tax Justice Tour comes to Manchester

Co-organised by Oxfam and Action Aid, we invite you to our 2017 Tax Tour. Join us at a speaker event near you, to meet and hear from inspiring activists who are fighting back against tax dodging across and within Africa.

Speaker bios:

Wanjiru Kanyiha is a lawyer and lobbyist who’s run campaigns on issues from tax justice to violence against women. She’ll share the impact she’s seen when ordinary people stand up for justice – and explain why she believes social media has the power to kickstart dramatic change.

Onyinye Okechukwi works for ActionAid Nigeria. Having fired up activists at numerous training courses and spread the word about tax justice at many events and in the media, she’ll give you an inspiring insider’s insight into life as a tax campaigner.

The Tax Tour is a unique opportunity to hear from campaigners from across Africa who are determined to smash the injustice of tax dodging.  Book your place via Eventbrite.
