for Sustainable Living - AfSL supports people to live more sustainably
by visiting them at home and giving simple, practical advice. They also
put people in touch with each other so that they can find local solutions
to local problems.
Arkadash
- Manchester's first ethical clothing shop, selling Fairtrade, sweatshop-free
and organic cotton clothing for adults, kids and babies from their new
shop opposite Unicorn in Chorlton.
The
Basement - An alternative political bookshop at 24 Lever St,
with a cheap vegan, fair trade and organic cafe, free Internet
access, a mini-library for customers to browse some of the many
titles on sale, and an information & exhibition space.
Dojo
EcoShop - Everything you need for an ethical bedroom, from organic
mattresses, futons, duvets and bed linen to sustainable timber bed
frames to eco-paints and fairly traded toys. Open from 10am to 5pm
on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 38 Mason Street (map). Tel: 834

Eco-Interiors
- Offer quality painting and decorating, floor sanding and woodworking
services using only eco-friendly paints and varnishes, so no nasty
fumes, solvents or toxins involved. Estimates and design advice are
free and the service is run by Simon and Charlie - a friendly and

Environment
Network for Manchester - EN4M aims to help environmental groups
in Manchester generate change towards environmental sustainability
through building capacity, representing their views, networking and
partnership working, awareness raising of environment issues and
providing information.
EMERGE
Recycling - Community recycling organisation based in Manchester.
Fairfield
Materials Management - A social enterprise based on the New
Smithfield market site in East Manchester, Fairfield has established
the UK’s first sustainable waste management system to operate
on a wholesale market, diverting
6,500 tonnes of organic market waste material away from landfill
by converting it into sustainable, quality compost.

not give it away instead? This website allows you to post details of
the item and see if anyone else can make use of it.
