Critical commute
Manchester's Critical Commute happens on the last Friday of every month.
The purpose of Critical Commute is:
- to make cycling visible to drivers and demonstrate that it's a viable way to get around;
- if you haven't cycled for a while, it's a chance to enjoy safety in numbers and learn from others who have more experience;
- to have fun.
It is entirely law abiding and does not attempt to stop or slow down traffic.
The starting points are as follows:
- Chorlton Green (by Horse and Jockey) 8:00am. You can join the Chorlton ride at several points along the way: Chorlton Library at 8.05am; anywhere on Upper Chorlton Road 8.10am (approx)
- Withington Library 8:00am. Join en route at Fallowfield Sainsburys at 8:10 or Whitworth Park at 8:20
- Levenshulme Station 8:00am. The route follows the Fallowfield Loop off-road route to Sainsbury's where it merges with the Withington group.
- Prestwich, Bury New Road (outside Pizza Express, junction with Scholes Lane) 8:00am. Our route is straight down Bury New Road so you can join us en route. We normally set off between 8:05 and 8:10am.
All rides finish in Manchester city centre at Albert Square at 08:30am, and often end with an activity such as handing out leaflets to passers-by.
