Anniversary Report - Integration with public transport
We received 3 comments about integration with public transport, including problems with access to Piccadilly Rail Station from the east, and the inability to transport bicycles on buses and trams.
Ducie St - The new One-Way (Travelling SW) This was the best means of approaching Piccadilly Station from East Manchester - linking with Oldmill St. It is now impossible to cycle to the station, from the east, without making a considerable diversion: either to the north, by Newton St and Dale St; or to the south, by Adair St, Travis St and Fairfield St - this southern alternative leaves you at the wrong level for the trains! Store St isn't considered a viable option on a single-speed folding bike. Integrated Transport – explain? Better - Exemption for Cycles on the new No Entry sign. Best - Segregated cycle lane for west bound cycle traffic.
With a busy (and sporty) lifestyle, I can't really afford to get home knackered every day. If it was possible to take my bike home on public transport, I'd be more inclined to cycle more often.
I cycle to work once or twice a week as it's quite far. I would definitely cycle everyday if I could take the bike with me on the bus. Generally, I would use my bike all the time if I could take it with me on the tram mainly, but also on the bus and train. I'm scared of leaving my bike at the station as I think it will get stolen or damaged. I would also need another bike at the other end of the line for the rest of my commute.
