What are Full Group Meetings?
What should you expect if you attend one of our monthly full group meetings?
At a typical full group meeting we hear reports back from group members on any actions and events that have taken place since the last meeting, and discuss any forthcoming activities that the group has planned.
We then dedicate the bulk of the meeting to exploring a topical issue in more detail - for example, in recent meetings, we've invited council representatives to give a presentation and answer questions on Greater Manchester's new waste contract, and run workshops to get feedback on the council's Green City strategy.
We keep full group meetings as free from policy, strategy and admin issues as we can (we have other "planning meetings" to deal with these issues), unless there is a direct bearing on campaigning. And we also hold a monthly campaign meeting to discuss the next actions and steps for each of our campaigns and identify new opportunities in response to current events.

If you're new to the group, there's a chance to chat to members over a cup of tea in the half hour before the meeting starts - we'll give you a welcome pack with information about Manchester FOE (and Friends of the Earth generally), and answer any questions you may have. |

Because we are organising events and actions there is always plenty of work to share out; however, if you are attending your first meeting, we suggest you take an hour or two to get your bearings. We appreciate your initiative in coming along, and will appreciate your contribution to the meeting.
We will also be as keen to put your skills to good use as you will be to use them, but don't feel that there is any pressure to dive in and start doing things. On the other hand, if you feel confident enough to get stuck into something, great!
