Oxford Road Trial Bus Stop Evaluation Report

As part of the long-running design process for the Oxford Road corridor, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) built a trial bus-stop bypass facility opposite Whitworth Park in Summer 2015. There was a 2-week monitoring process and TfGM have released the Oxford Road Trial Bus Stop Evaluation Report and the Final Layout drawing.  See below for the TfGM explanation.

In Summer 2015, Transport for Greater Manchester constructed a trial bus stop facility on Oxford Road, featuring a cycle bypass lane with pedestrian crossing facilities, including a zebra-style crossing. In partnership with Manchester City Council, TfGM then undertook a period of monitoring and evaluation of the stop to assess the suitability of its design to ensure that it met the needs of all users. This process involved public surveys and site visits by stakeholders and user groups to enable feedback to be provided. The evaluation concluded with a stakeholder workshop on the 16th November 2016.

TfGM and Manchester City Council have now concluded the evaluation process for the Oxford Road Trial Bus Stop and attached is a copy of the Evaluation Report, for your information. This report is a summary of the evaluation process, the recommendations made and the final design changes. These changes are now being implemented in the final Oxford Road Bus Priority Scheme.
