Stop Europe's new corporate conquest
The European Union is currently negotiating a series of Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) with developing countries. These unfair trade deals will only benefit European multinationals, and will inevitably lead to increased poverty and further environmental damage.
Email
Reijo Kemppinen, the Head of the European Commission Representation
in the UK, and ask him to rethink Europe's new trade strategy.
Email
Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for International Development
and ask him to put a stop to EPAs and develop an alternative approach
that protects people and the environment.
Protect food sovereignty
The UK Government and its EU partners have been pushing trade policies that severely undermine the right for communities around the world to decide their own food and agricultural policies, and that threaten the livelihoods of millions of poor farmers worldwide.
Email
Hilary Benn (DEFRA) and Douglas Alexander (DFID), and tell them that the
UK Government needs to act in Europe to stop unfair trade deals and
protect food sovereignty.
Put the green into trade justice
Current trade under the World Trade Organisation (WTO) is widening gaps between rich and poor, stripping rights from people and plundering the Earth's natural resources.
Send
an e-mail to Gordon Brown asking him to put green thinking
into trade. He needs reminding that to end poverty and protect the
environment we need Trade Justice not free trade.
