And finally...
It is important to remember that we in the North are the main polluters and consumers.
Deforestation and industrialisation in the North created the wealth, and no country in the North developed without protecting its infant industries from outside competition.
We cannot expect the South to continue to live in poverty and deny them the opportunities we enjoy.
So if the North wants the South to develop sustainably, it will have to offer incentives in the way of technology transfers, aid, debt relief and fairer trade rules.
