Waste Strategy Action
| When? | Saturday 4th March 2006 |
| Where? | Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester |
| Why? | To urge members of the public to call on the Government not to build more incinerators and to increase recycling targets. |

The Government recently published its national waste strategy for the next five years, which as well as setting out woefully unambitious targets for recycling and composting, allows for up to 50 new incinerators to built in England.
The public has until 9th May to respond to the proposals, so on Saturday 4th March, Manchester Friends of the Earth campaigners asked people in the city centre to send letters to the Government saying that they do not want any new incinerators to be built.
We got over 50 people to sign letters and Labour MP for Manchester Central, Tony Lloyd (pictured above), stopped by to show his support for the campaign.

Take Action!
Send a letter to Ben Bradshaw, opposing the proposed increase in incineration capacity in the UK and asking the Government to instead commit to more ambitious recycling targets.
