Ask your MP to be a Zero Hero

take action

Ten years ago, MPs came together to pass a ground-breaking law: the Climate Change Act. The law was a world first and showed that the UK was serious about tackling climate change.

However, ten years on, we know that we need to be going much further and faster with our emissions cuts if we’re going to limit the worst effects of climate change. We need to set a net zero target before 2050. A net zero target would see the UK only produce the same amount of emissions that we could remove from the atmosphere, for example by planting more forests.

Over 180 MPs and Peers have already shown their support for this cleaner, brighter world by signing a pledge. But if we’re going to set a new target, we need more MPs to sign up.

Will you send your MP a card to show them your support for a new net zero target?

You just need to fill in your details and we’ll do the rest.

THE MESSAGE WE’LL SEND TO YOUR MP IF THEY:

Haven’t signed the pledge
Text: Ten years ago, MPs came together to pass the world’s first Climate Change Act. We can continue in this proud tradition of leadership by becoming one of the first countries in the world set a target in law of net zero emissions before 2050.

Please add your signature to a cross-party pledge, which has already been signed by over 100 MPs, backing a UK net zero emissions target. You can find the full text of the pledge here and add your signature by emailing campaigns@theclimatecoalition.org or by contacting the office of Simon Clarke MP.

In honour of the 10th Birthday of the Climate Change Act, there will be a celebration in Parliament in the Attlee Suite on 21st November from 4-6 pm. We hope that you will attend to mark this milestone and hear about the positive impacts net zero could have in the fight against climate change.

Have Signed the Pledge
Text: Ten years ago, MPs across parties came together to create the world’s first Climate Change Act. In honour of this, there will be a celebration in Parliament in the Attlee Suite on 21st November from 4-6 pm. I hope you can go along to this event to mark this milestone and celebrate the fact that the UK has led the world in the fight against climate change.

As your constituent, I wanted to thank you for being a Zero Hero and for adding your signature to the letter from Simon Clarke MP, asking the Prime Minister to set a target in law of net zero emissions before 2050. This will be crucial if the UK is to remain a global leader and protect the people, places and life affected by climate change.
