Sam Lee, The Nest Collective and Friends of the Earth announce a series of Nature Immersion Walks.

news release

Sam Lee, The Nest Collective and Friends of the Earth will join forces to support Sam’s 16-date UK album release tour, promoted by DHP, Gulbenkian and Ear Trumpet, with a series of nature immersion walks in 7 tour locations.

This series of nature immersion walks are exclusively available to all Friends of the Earth ‘Take Climate Action’ group members and tour ticket holders. Seven one-hour walks will take place the morning after the concerts in select cities,  commencing on February 1st in Newcastle. Walking boots not included.

Old Wow is an album about our complicated relationship with planet earth but also about the impact that ecological crisis has on our sense of self and the place we call home.

“ It would seem remiss to release and tour an album all about connecting in deeper with nature and community and not do something like this. I am honoured to be partnering with Friends of the Earth for these gatherings and strolls out in some exceptionally stunning areas of the country. These walks also represent attempts to spend quality time out in Nature which can really help combat the impacts on wellbeing as a touring musician. They are opportunities to share my love and knowledge of some wonderful endangered habitats and a way to give thanks to and connect local climate and wildlife campaigners and the audiences who have come to the gig the night before“ Sam Lee

“Music has a long history as part of the fight against climate breakdown, so we’re delighted to be partnering with Sam Lee and The Nest Collective to keep this going. Let’s make 2020 the year of proper climate action, including huge emission cuts, commitment to doubling tree cover and protecting nature.

“We need the government to get its act together, but by joining together at a community level we can put pressure on those in power.”  Emi Murphy, trees campaigner at Friends of the Earth

Friends of the Earth has launched Climate Action Groups to help people join forces with others in their community to combat climate breakdown. Friends of the Earth has a long history of environmental activism at a community level. Time and again they’ve found that the voices of people and communities can lead to big victories for the planet.

Taking place close to some of the UK’s best-loved music venues.; these walks will take place across the country during Sam’s national UK tour, between 29 January and 21 February 2020, within easy access of towns and cities. Together they will explore and connect with their surroundings.

Free sign-up will be offered as an exclusive option to all existing tour ticket buyers. Friends of the Earth and Climate Action Group members receive a discount on concert tickets.
