How can we stop #BuildingCarDependency? – Manchester event (Transport for New Homes)
How can we build healthy, liveable communities where residents can walk, cycle and use public transport to go about their daily lives?
Many new housing estates located in the countryside are adding to traffic jams, carbon emissions, and are trapping communities into car-dependence. That’s the conclusion of our recent popular report ‘Building Car Dependency’, featured in the BBC, Guardian and more.
- What have we learned from our latest research?
- How and why is car-dependent housing being built?
- How can we build sociable, liveable communities where residents can walk, cycle and use public transport to go about their daily lives? Where are we getting this right?
Speakers from Transport for New Homes will talk about our research, and there will be plenty of opportunity for discussion. You can also take part in our workshop to suggest revisions to National Policy Planning Framework (NPPF) to encourage the Government to effectively build around sustainable transport – no experience is necessary!
Anyone with a professional, public and academic interest in transport and planning is welcome. Tickets are limited, so please do book today!
All proceeds will cover event costs, with any small profit made going towards our work.
