A magical clean air machine… join the ‘Bicycle Bloc’ @ Manchester Day Parade (Sunday 18th June)

Manchester Day Parade 2017 is on Sunday 18th June and this year will be a celebration of all things magic and over 2000 performers will take you on a magical adventure of wonder, invention and illusion.

Manchester Day 2017 promises to be even bigger and better! The centrepiece of the day will still be a stunning parade, weaving its way through the city. The parade itself will be around one mile long and take up to an hour to pass any one point!  More details and key parade timings.

Manchester Day Parade - 18th June 2017

Join in with the Love Your Bike – Bicycle Bloc – this year we will be highlighting the magical nature of bicycles for clean travel and we will have a magical “clean air machine” – powered and propelled by bicycle (of course) and a menagerie of animals, birds and flowers gambolling and frolicing in our magical clean air zone.

Once again, we will be working with the amazing artist (and welder extraordinaire) Julian Taylor to create the magical pedal powered and pedal propelled “clean air machine”, animal / bird /flower costumes.  You can see Manchester Day Parade photos from 2016, and 2013 taken by artist/maker Julian Taylor on his Flickr pages.

Can you help us build the ‘magical air cleaning machine’ ?

We have several work sessions in the run up to the Manchester Day Parade on Sunday 18th June.

The sessions will be at Walk the Plank workshop – in the Campfield Market Hall area, Barton St – off Liverpool Road – near the Museum of Science and Industry. You don’t have to stay for the whole session – any time you can give will be great.

Session dates:

Saturday 10th June:  10am – 1pm and 1 – 4pm.

Monday 12th June: 5.30pm – 8pm

Wednesday 14th June: 5.30pm – 8pm  (pizza for helpers 🙂
