Bat Walk at Platt Fields

Join us for a bat walk at Platt Fields Park.

Bats are truly fascinating, flying mammals. There are 18 species of bat across the UK, several of which can be found in Platt Fields Park including pipistrelles and noctules.

Throughout the summer, bats roost during the day and come out just after dusk to feed on insects. They hunt and navigate by echo-location using high-frequency sounds. Using bat detectors, we can listen to their calls while watching them in action above our heads, it’s amazing!

South Lancashire Bat Group’s Steve Parker will lead the walk. Steve is a mine of bat facts and life long, passionate bat conservationist. So come along and meet the bats of Platt Fields.

Meet at the Boathouse, Platt fields Park. Please ensure you dress for the weather and note that we will be walking across unlit, uneven ground. And please note children must be accompanied by an adult.
