Who wants a 2030 decarbonisation target? ….and who doesn't?

take action

With media reports suggesting that the coalition Government has failed to include a 2030 decarbonisation target in the Energy Bill, Friends of the Earth has shown that support from business and charities far outweighs the opposition. Friends of the Earth has produced a new infographic  listing the names of around 100 companies and NGOs who back a target for greening our electricity by 2030. It shows that George Osborne, and the energy companies Centrica and RWE, are the only major public opposition.

A dash for gas will leave us at the mercy of soaring wholesale gas prices. But that’s exactly what George Osborne is planning.  Help us stop him from hitting your bills and damaging the future of clean British energy.

We’ve teamed up with Stop Climate Chaos to end Osborne’s plans to derail the green economy. Everyone – from the independent Committee on Climate Change to big business, faith grou ps, green organisations and key MPs – agrees that the UK should have carbon-free electricity by 2030.

We need Energy Secretary Ed Davey to put a Clean British Energy target into the Government’s new Energy Bill.

Your MP can make the crucial difference.

Please email or write to your MP and ask them to tell Ed Davey to ensure that there is a clean electricity target in the Energy Bill.

Thank you – your letters and emails CAN make a difference.
