Do you have what it takes to be a Climate Organiser?

take action

We need a climate movement strong enough, broad enough and diverse enough to stop climate change.  We’d like you to help us build it.

Rise up for the climateNow in its third year, our unique and successful Campaign Organisers programme reveals the secrets behind great local campaigns and provides the skills to make them happen.

In 2015-16 the programme will focus on the global campaign against climate change.

Apply Now (The deadline for applications is Sunday 19 April 2015).

If you’re up for being a Climate Organiser, we’ll help you to organise your community for local climate change action. This could include Friends of the Earth campaigns on fracking and solar power, or it could be another local issue.

We’ll also support you to mobilise for major national actions such as a mass lobby of Parliament in the summer and a global week of action in the autumn, ahead of the Paris climate talks this winter.

To support you through we’ll be offering:

  • Training at our inspiring annual Basecamp event in Derbyshire, from 12-14 June 2015
  • Ongoing 1:1 telephone and in-person support
  • Regular skillshares with other participants
  • A grant to kick-start your campaigning
  • The Friends of the Earth Certificate in Campaign Organising (optional)

How to apply

Applications are welcome from within and beyond the Friends of the Earth local group network. We are interested in people anywhere in the UK, but especially northern cities such as Hull, Preston, Bradford, Doncaster, Liverpool and Manchester.

We’ll be looking for:

  • evidence of campaigning experience
  • a knack for organising and assisting people
  • a determination to be part of a movement that makes a difference
  • an understanding of the need to diversify our movement

If you’ve got that, we can help you put your talent into action.

All you need to do is fill in the application form answering a few straightforward questions.

Then we’ll then arrange a time for a telephone interview to explore if the programme is right for you.

The course is free, however you may need to cover your own travel expenses. If this could pose problems for your participation, please let us know when we chat.

If you have any questions you’d like to discuss before applying, please contact us on campaignorganisers@foe.co.uk or 020 7490 0210.
