Call for divestment from fossil fuels

The Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) is the biggest local authority pension fund in the country. It is also one of the biggest investors in fossil fuels, with over £1 billion invested in companies like Shell and BP.

Not only are coal, oil and gas bad news for the climate, they are also risky investments – fossil fuel companies will find the majority of their reserves ‘unburnable‘ if we are to keep global warming below 2 degrees C.

The GMPF is consulting on its Statement of Investment Principles until Friday 4th September. Please use the form below to send a response calling on the GMPF to divest from fossil fuels and invest in clean energy.
