Anti-fracking campaigner, Tina Rothery, escapes jail

news release

A judge at Preston Combined Court has ruled today that Tina Rothery should not go to prison for contempt of court. The order against Tina has been discharged.

Polly Steiner, Friends of the Earth North West campaigner, said: “It is fantastic news that anti-fracking nana Tina can now spend the Christmas period with her loved ones.

“Tina is a dedicated and tireless local resident from Lancashire, who has consistently shown extraordinary bravery in standing up to the fracking industry and their attempts to bulldoze ahead with fracking against the wishes of local people.

“Cuadrilla have not only failed in this battle – they have also lost the argument in Lancashire and people will not give up in their campaign to defend their communities and the climate against this risky and unwanted industry.”
