UK must show leadership and end use of climate-wrecking fossil fuels

Responding to today’s new forecast from the Met Office, warning that global average temperature could reach 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels during the next five years, Friends of the Earth’s senior climate campaigner Simon Bullock said:

“A warming world means more extreme droughts, floods and storms.

“We can limit this damage, but only by moving much faster to get the world off climate-wrecking fossil fuels. The UK should show leadership by stopping building new runways, and ending drilling for more coal, gas and oil.”
