Friends of the Earth supports National Trust in fracking challenge

news release

A massive fracking firm want to sue the National Trust for access to historic parkland. INEOS announced today that it is seeking a court order for the right to carry out seismic surveys.

Responding to reports that the National Trust will face a High Court challenge over its refusal to allow fracking firm INEOS to test for shale gas at Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, Guy Shrubsole, Friends of the Earth campaigner, said:

“A huge fracking firm suing the National Trust to test for shale gas within the historic Sherwood Forest area will make people wonder what is sacred anymore.

“The spirit of Robin Hood will be bridling at these bully-boy tactics. INEOS’ fracking activities threaten to industrialise our green and pleasant land and people everywhere will be horrified.”
