Send the Government a frack-free Christmas card!

In the two weeks that Cuadrilla tried fracking in Lancashire, 36 small earthquakes occurred around the fracking site in Lancashire.
The quakes are yet another reason why we must stop the Government’s plans to fast track fracking. With a decision on the plans due at any time, we now want to heap more pressure on the minister in charge – James Brokenshire.

For this action we’d like you to grab his attention using good old-fashioned post. And to give it a festive twist we want flood his office with hundreds of Christmas cards demanding a frack-free Christmas and New Year. Together let’s make sure his mail bag is impossible to ignore.

Quick guide

1. Find a spare Christmas card.

2. Write your message. Keep it short and polite. It’s up to you what you focus on – local democracy, the threat  the climate, the impact on our countryside? Here are some examples of the sort of thing you might write:

Dear Mr Brokenshire,

For Christmas this year I would like local democracy and our climate to be protected. Please don’t change planning rules to fast track fracking.

Dear James,

Merry Christmas – and please don’t force fracking on local communities.

Have a happy, frack-free, New Year.

3. Add your name and return address so that Mr Brokenshire can write back to you.

4. Send your card to:

Rt Hon James Brokenshire
Department for Housing, Communities & Local Government
2 Marsham Street
London SW1P 4DF

That’s it. Good luck.
