Buzzin’ nature campaign stall at the Manchester Festival of Nature (Saturday 29th June)

event report

On one of the hottest days of the year (so far) Manchester Friends of the Earth nature campaign volunteers joined forces with a group of incredible nature organisations to celebrate Manchester’s wonderful wildlife in Heaton Park as part of the fantastic Manchester Festival of Nature #MFON.

#MFON programme

Along with nature campaign information we had activities for both little and big kids including leaf-rubbing and wildflower seed-bomb making and Cat and Damian also braved the heat to join in the Bee Parade record-breaking attempt!

We were also encouraging people to write to their local councillors using our template letter to ask their Councils to become pesticide-free.

In March 2019, Trafford Council agreed to phase out the use of all pesticides and weed killers on council land and to cut out the use of glyphosate based treatments in all council operations in one year. Please ask your local Council to do join Trafford and other local councils and become pesticide-free.

The organisers of Manchester Festival of Nature are planning to run the event again next year and we hope to be there. Keep an eye on our events calendar for more details.

And if you would like to get involved with the Manchester Friends of the Earth nature campaigns please contact Cat cat@manchesterfoe.org.uk for details of the next nature meetings and events.
