Join City of Trees and Friends of the Earth to plant 500 trees in Sunnybank Park – Sunday 24th November [NOW FULLY BOOKED].

take action

Manchester Friends of the Earth are joining forces with City of Trees and Tameside Council to plant 500 trees in Sunnybank Park during National Tree Week (23rd November – 1st December)

*** Please note:This tree planting event is now fully booked – thank you to everyone who has signed up to help us plant the trees in Sunnybank Park…. see you on Sunday 🙂 ***

Friends of the Earth has launched a #MoreTreesPlease campaign to double tree cover in the UK.

Trees play an incredible role in combating climate chaos by removing planet-wrecking emissions from the air around us. Despite their importance, just 13% of the UK’s total land area has tree cover (compared to an EU average of 35%).

We believe one of the best solutions to protect our environment and achieve net zero emissions (removing as many emissions as we produce) is to double UK forest by 2045, but government targets currently fall well short.

We’re grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, who have funded 500 trees to be planted at Sunnybank Park in Tameside. This event will play a part in City of Trees’ long term goal of planting 3 million more trees in Greater Manchester.

Join City of Trees and Friends of the Earth to help plant 500 trees on this greenspace.

Taking place on Sunday 24 November 10am—2pm; gloves, tools and equipment will be provided.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for working outside, in potentially wet conditions. Light refreshments are provided. Please note there is no toilet available at this site.

Meeting point: Sunnybank Park, Lewis Road, Droylsden, M43 6WR. Then follow the tree planting signs from the Lewis Road entrance to the planting site.
