Friends of the Earth responds to tree planting announcements from Conservatives and Lib Dems

news release

Responding to today’s tree planting announcements from the Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats, Emi Murphy, Friends of the Earth trees campaigner, said:

“Bolder policies announced from the Conservatives and Lib Dems today are a solid start, but we need greater ambition from all parties to urgently respond to the climate emergency.

“Recent floods show that UK communities are already on the frontlines of climate chaos. Doubling UK tree cover can be a double win for flood prone communities and our climate.

“We need more than the Lib Dems are promising to replace the UK’s lost trees and get us back to the tree cover we desperately need.”
