Ask your council to reallocate road space for walking (Living Streets)
Under the current Covid-19 guidance, it is vital that, when we take our permitted daily exercise outside, we are able to do it safely. It is also important that keyworkers are able to travel safely.
This means maintaining at least two metres between one another – but on some of our streets, our pavements just aren’t wide enough.
Now that the Department for Transport is temporarily making it easier for councils to change street structures and allocate road space for safer walking and cycling, we can help our councils achieve the widest benefits through measures like filtering or closing to motor traffic, and protecting safe access to green space and nature.
