On Top of the World in a warm space
‘On Top of the World’ (On Top) is a project that has been operating in the Hulme ward since 2015. At our AGM quiz on the 7th February we raised over £100 to support their warm spaces this winter. Thank you to all those who took part and donated!
Read on to find out more about the project:
‘Our main objective is to work with and support older people in Hulme to lead healthier, happier more independent lives, ensuring that residents can ‘grow older in place’.
Our community work ensures that elderly residents live out their twilight years with dignity and respect in the areas they have lived their lives in.
Our work strengthens existing community roots and ensures residents can retire safe in the knowledge that they are supported by our deeply embedded local support networks alongside our additional support for those in need of full time social care. The time line between being 50+ to end of life can be as long as 40 years. Our aim is to make that time more productive, safe, vibrant and that residents can leave a positive footprint and legacy.
Our work ensures that we reduce the strain and pressure on local NHS health and well-being services, specifically adult social care.
Older people come to keep warm and eat a home made Harty meal. They take advice and can access fuel information combating fuel and food poverty.’
