processClimate Change
Climate change is 'the' global issue of our time. We have to step up and play our part here in Greater Manchester and reduce emissions in the short term and become carbon neutral by 2038.
Divestment from Fossil Fuels
I agree that public sector pension funds of all kinds should be ethically invested and also look at divesting away from fossil fuel companies in the timescales being campaigned for. Pension funds should have a co-operative stakeholder and ethos on their boards and in their decision making processes.
Walking and Cycling
Yes, I fully support the Made to Move initiative and strategy and believe MCC should invest in that strategy for the health of our City and region.
Air Quality
Yes, as a local governor at Old Moat Primary School for 12 years, I see the impact of this in our local area. I am already an active campaigner for safety outside schools in terms of parking and speed of traffic. We also need measures like this to tackle environmental air pollution too for our children as well.
Biodiversity
Yes, this should be halted in Manchester. Bees are so inportant to our Eco System as a while.
Plastics
Yes, MCC have already passed a motion on this issue in March 2018 which I fully support.
Aviation
Yes, tackling air pollution for air flights will be a key issue of our time in us tackling climate change fully.
Energy Efficiency
Yes, we should have much more devolved power in GM on issues like this.
