101: Aviation & Climate Justice with Stay Grounded (Tipping Point)

Join this introductory session to find out why a global reduction of aviation and a halt on airport expansion is important for climate justice.

We will be joined by John and Jackie, one of the Barbudan land defenders who has taken their Government to court over the razing of a pristine forest for a private jet airport by US developers in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Find out more about their campaign here: https://www.glanlaw.org/supporting-land-defenders.

We will cover various aspects of the struggle: climate impact and inequalities, global solidarity, workers’ rights, false solutions and alternatives. Together, we learn how to counter the industry’s greenwashed lies with new narratives and find out what we can do to support campaigns against airport expansion in the UK.

Stay Grounded is a global network of over 200 groups campaigning for a rapid reduction of air traffic and a just transition towards mobility that works for people and the planet. We support No Airport Expansion!, a new campaign calling for a moratorium on all UK airport expansion plans.
